Water
Moving to a new home in the Netherlands? Then you also need to arrange your water supply. Unlike electricity, gas or internet, you cannot choose your water supplier in the Netherlands. Your drinking water company is determined by your postcode, because each region has its own water company with its own pipe network. This means there is nothing to compare on price, but you do need to register at your new address and pass on your meter reading.
Easy Nuts takes care of this for you, free of charge. Together with your energy, internet and mobile, we make sure your water connection is registered in your name from the day you get your keys, so you never have to worry about it.

Costs & usage
Tap water in the Netherlands is affordable. One litre of drinking water costs only around 0.1 to 0.2 cents, depending on your water company. Your water bill consists of a price per cubic metre (1,000 litres), a tax on tap water and a fixed annual connection fee per household.
For the water you use, including tap water tax. The exact amount depends on your water company and how much water you use.
Brabant Water is among the cheapest, PWN in Noord-Holland among the most expensive. Prices change every year on 1 January.
A fixed connection fee per household per year, regardless of how much water you use.
The average Dutch person uses 129 litres of water per day, which is around 47,000 litres a year. Surprisingly, only a tiny part of that is used for drinking and cooking. The shower and the toilet together account for more than half of all household water consumption.

Good to know: besides your water bill, you also pay a sewage charge to your municipality and a water board tax to your regional water authority. These are separate from your water company and are charged through your local taxes.
